For this week's #HumansofIDP, we're highlighting three of our EDUC 2610 co-facilitators Carley ‘21, Khary ‘22, and Linda ‘21! Here’s what these three have to say about IDP and one another:
Why IDP?
Carley:
I originally took EDUC 2610 because it seemed like the coolest option to fulfill one of my minor requirements. I started thinking that I was going to educate more than learn, but once I got there, I realized how ignorant I was about both broader social issues and my relationship to myself and others. I stay because I love really gaining a deeper understanding of myself and learning how to share that authentic version with other people.
What is your favorite thing about your co-facilitators?
Khary:
I feel like me and my co-facilitators are great complements to each other, personality wise, strengths wise, and expertise wise. This weird semester has brought its own challenges, but my cos have embraced them and become so adept with Zoom, it’s almost like we are physically in class together again. Carley is quick on her feet and so good at pushing our peers to embrace the process, while Linda is so observant and in tune with the unsaid going on in the classroom. It all synergizes in the best way. They are literally the best cos a person could ask for.
What is the most rewarding part of being an IDP facilitator?
Linda:
The most rewarding part of being an IDP facilitator is having the chance to connect with others. Whether it’s my students, my co-facilitators, the teaching team, etc. I am constantly growing and learning from those around me in IDP. As a facilitator, IDP is always challenging me to be more kind and compassionate.
