Humans of IDP #51: Valerie ‘20 & Miles ‘22

This week’s #HumansofIDP features two more of our EDUC 2610 co-facilitators, Valerie Weisbeck ‘20 and Miles Greenblatt ‘22, pictured here as they celebrated the successful completion of their final online session last week! Here's what these two have to say about IDP and each other:

Why IDP?

Valerie:

IDP has become a second home to me on campus where I am always warmly welcomed. It is a really important space to me because it is one of few places in my experience on campus where talking about social issues and identity is encouraged. I always know when I walk into IDP, I will be surrounded by honesty and bravery in facing social issues and conflict head on.

Miles:

There are so many amazing connections that could be made and learning opportunities to be taken advantage of every day that are missed because we sometimes lack the skills to communicate with one another across differences. IDP has not only helped give me these skills, but also allowed me to learn so much about myself and about the people around me.

What is your favorite thing about your co-facilitator?

Valerie:

His great music taste, and his incredible ability to genuinely connect with people both inside and outside the classroom!

Miles:

She has so much love and passion for the work we do, our students, and the people and places (Buffalo!!) in her life. She works incredibly hard to help me and all our students learn as much as possible.
