This week’s #HumanofIDP is IDP alum Kevin Milian ‘15. Kevin facilitated a sexual orientation and gender dialogue, and is now working at Dentsu Aegis Network in New York City after receiving a Master of Science degree at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism. Here’s what Kevin has to say about how IDP has continued to impact him post-graduation:
IDP gave me the knowledge and tools to create a safe space for LGBTQ employees at my workplace. It allowed me to deal well with conflicts that may come up as well as offer resources and a sounding board to fellow queer coworkers and allies. While it may not be a 100% transfer of IDP to my workplace, it’s slowly changing the way we speak about topics, and creating visibility in traditionally white and male spaces. Encouraging nuance in marketing to LGBTQ+ people has been reflected in some real-life campaigns from our clients.
