This week we’re excited to introduce you to Lauren Cody ‘23 and Olivia Tukpui ‘24 as our #HumansofIDP! Here's what these EDUC 2610 co-facilitators have to say about IDP and one another!
Why IDP?
Lauren:
When I took EDUC 2610 as a sophomore, I felt like I grew so much as a person and learned so many valuable skills about how to connect with others. I wanted to continue to challenge myself to grow through the facilitator role, and to learn more about other people and the systems that shape us.
Olivia:
I chose to return to the IDP community as a facilitator after taking EDUC 2610 because the class allowed me to reflect on myself and the world in the most challenging ways. It pushed my to see myself and the world through a multidimensional lens, allowing me to embrace the different parts of my identity I once shied away from — something for which I will always be grateful. It has impacted the way I view empathy and agency, and allowed me to see myself as capable of challenging the status quo and making change.
What's your favorite thing about your co-facilitator?
Lauren:
Olivia has such a warm, welcoming presence that immediately puts everyone at ease. She really challenges herself to be vulnerable and brave and I can see the positive impact that it has on me and on our students. I am confident that she always has my back during session and she always provides a really valuable perspective to the dialogue. I’m so grateful to have her as a co-facilitator!
Olivia:
Lauren is one of the most supportive, down-to-earth, and selfless people I have ever encountered. She has such a bright, welcoming smile and calming presence that makes her so easy to talk to and connect with. I admire her passion and energy in our late-night sessions and often find myself challenged and motivated to grow as a better facilitator in her presence.
