Meet Bianca Bryant ‘23, Lily Berghorn ‘21, and Nelson Liu ‘23, three of our EDUC 2610 co-facilitators and this week’s #HumansofIDP! Here’s what these three have to say about IDP and one another:
Why IDP?
Bianca:
IDP is honestly what I was looking for in a college experience. It has allowed me to connect with others in meaningful ways and reflect on my own understanding and experiences, and I appreciate the opportunity to help other students build these connections as well. Learning about the stories of other students and hearing about the ways in which they hope to create change in our society, whether that be in their social groups, families, or future careers, never stops being both inspiring and rewarding.
What is your favorite thing about your co-facilitators?
Lily:
Bianca and Nelson are just amazing. I can’t say enough good things about them, but I think my favorite part about working with both Bianca and Nelson is getting to watch how they continually strive to better themselves for our students. If Bianca and Nelson make a goal for the week, they not only achieve it, but surpass it. I am always amazed at how much poise they bring to our IDP space every week while constantly challenging themselves and our students. I am so lucky to have them as my co-facilitators and my support system.
What is the most rewarding part of being an IDP facilitator?
Nelson:
My experience as an IDP facilitator has blown me away in terms of how fulfilling being an educator can be. As a student, I found myself very engaged with the material and contributing a lot, but as a facilitator, I’m able to see a much more complete picture of the material. I am blessed to be able to step outside of myself every time I facilitate and grow my perspective through listening to others.
